Description	:	Lawrence L. Wagner, 81, of Crofton died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Yankton, S.D., with the Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Yankton Cemetery with military honors by VFW Post 791. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Wintz & Ray Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 p.m. followed by a vigil service. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the funeral at the church. ——— Lawrence was born Nov. 7, 1928, in Creighton to Joseph and Emma (Meyer) Wagner. He grew up on the family farm in Creighton, attended St. Ludger's Catholic School and graduated from Creighton High School in 1947. After high school he worked on the family farm until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1950. He served in the Army until his discharge in 1952. Lawrence returned to the family farm to farm with his dad. He married Donna Christensen on Sept. 12, 1959, in Yankton. After their marriage they moved to their farm west of Bloomfield where Lawrence farmed until moving to Crofton in 1991. He started working for Alumax, which he continued until retiring in 2008. Lawrence was a member of the Bloomfield American Legion and loved fishing, sitting by the river, farming, working with cattle, playing cards, visiting with friends and having coffee every morning with his friends at Hy-Vee. He was a fun-loving man who loved his family and was very proud of all his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Donna of Crofton; four children, Chris (Darlene) Wagner of Melrose, Iowa, Dave (Colleen) Wagner of Smith, Nev., Beth (Tom) Schuurmans of Lincoln and Katie (Jerry) Fritz of Center; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother Herman (Colleen) Wagner of Norfolk; brother-in-law Bill Schreier of Verdigre and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Matt Wagner; two sisters, Anne Schreier and Rosie Babel; brother-in-law Ralph Babel; and sister-in-law Mary Lou Wagner. Pallbearers are Wes Parsons, Gerald Wagner, Bruce Wagner, Brian Dunblazier, Race Schuurmans and Bob Goeden. Honorary pallbearers are Lawrence's grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Michelle Dunblazier, Curtis Wee, Rachel Wagner, Wyatt Wagner, Kaitlin Schuurmans, McKayla Fritz, Siara Fritz, Colton Dunblazier and Clayton Dunblazier.
