Born March 25, 1953, at Newman Grove to Leo and the late Helen Cremers Kaus, he attended Scotus High School and Platte College. He also worked for Eller Heating and Air Conditioning. During his high school career he participated in Junior Achievement and served as vice president of his senior class. He also participated in football and track. Survivors include his father (and 6 sisters). Preceding him in death were his mother, killed in a traffic accident near Silver Creek in 1966; paternal grandparents, Henry and Helen Kaus; maternal grandparents, Theodore and Catherine Cremers. (Larry had been driving to pick up his sister from work when he was hit by a drunk driver.)
