Read More	MERRILL, LAWRENCE—The funeral of Lawrence Merrill was held at 3:30 yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. O. A. Merrill, and was conducted by Rev. W. H. Shoaf. Lawrence Leslie Merrill was born at Geneva, Neb., July 1, 1911. He died at Murray, Nebraska, June 18, 1933, in an accident. His life of less than twenty-two years was all spent in Geneva. He graduated from the Geneva High School with the class of 1931. He was popular with his teachers and associate pupils. He was active in high school affairs, especially athletics, in football, basketball and track, and continued his inters tater graduation often being called upon to referee games. He was a member of the “G” Club and in addition to these interests he was active in Hi-Y work. During his last year in school he was associated with the Keep-U-Neat firm with which he continued his pleasant relations until a few weeks ago, when he gave up his work there to enter the government reforestation service. He, with other Fillmore boys, was stationed at Fort Crook and with others, had been ordered to the camp at Chadron. Lawrence was of a cheerful, sunshiny disposition, and he easily surrounded himself with friends. It was his interest in his home, his mother and other loved ones and friends that brought him home for a short visit before departing for the Chadron camp. Lawrence’s father, O. A. Merrill departed this life in June, 1930. A sister, Ollie, died in august, 1913. The funeral was held at the home of MRS. O. A. Merrill at 3:30 yesterday afternoon and was conducted by Rev. W. H. Shoaf. Interment was in the Geneva Cemetery. (NOTE: He was killed in an auto and train accident along with three others.) The Nebraska Signal 22 June 1933 page 2. ALSO: Card of Thanks.
