Arnold, Who Married a Quincy Girl About a Month Ago Passes Away to Rest. Bethel, Mo., Dec. 21.—The death of L. M. Arnold occurred here Saturday morning at 9 o'clock, the cause being heart trouble. He was born June 10, 1831, in Ohio, and had been married twice. He was married about a month before his death to a Quincy lady, who survives him. Mr. Arnold was respected by all who know him and everybody seems to have a kind word for the old gentleman. The funeral sermon was preached at Shelbyville Sunday afternoon by Rev. Brown of Bethel, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Shelbyville Cemetery. The Quincy Daily Journal, Quincy, Illinois, Wednesday, December 22, 1897; Page: 6 Died. L. M. Arnold died of heart failure at his home in Bethel last Saturday at the age of 66 years. Deceased was one of the old settlers having come to this county in 1868 and settled on the J. I. Taylor farm. He was for a long time quite active in business and a prominent stock trader. It is said that he was the first to own and operate a threshing machine in this county. Deceased was the father of L. W. and A. C. Arnold, well known to most of the people in this vicinity. Besides these a wife and several small children mourn his loss.
