Description	:	Lawrence Priest, 83, of Beaverton, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 19, 2011. He was born in Midland on Sept. 9, 1927 to Fred and Charolett (Melzo) Priest. He first married Lillian DeRosia on Sept. 11, 1954 in Beaverton. She preceded him in death in 2001. He then married Arthella Timmons-Hoggard on Oct. 25, 2003. He first married Lillian DeRosia on Sept. 11, 1954 in Beaverton. She preceded him in death in 2001. He then married Arthella Timmons-Hoggard on Oct. 25, 2003. He was a Veteran of the United States Army 6006 Service Unit stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington. Retired from General Motors as a press operator in 1988, he worked for Cole's Garage and Wrecker Service for 6 years before retiring to do the work that he loved which was restoring antique cars and tractors, and the last being his pride and joy, a 1930 Ford Model A and a John Deere B. Larry never lacked in humor for a great joke. He had lived in Gladwin County for most of his life and is survived by his wife, Arthella Priest of Beaverton; daughter, Judy (Steve) Foster of Beaverton; grandchildren, Michael (Trina) Foster and Janna Foster both of Beaverton; step-children, Dan (Jill) Hoggard of Harbor Springs, Jan Ryan (Gary Lowe) of Midland, Gregg (Laurie) Hoggard of Midland, Roger (Joann) Hoggard of Midland, Marcia (Kevin) Terwillegar of Freeland, and Chris (Pam) Hoggard of Bay City; two grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; he was known as Grandpa Larry to his 20 step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Vera Jean Priest of Colorado, Lucille Slingerland and Linda Rodabaugh, both of Brooklyn; brother, Roger (Pauline) Priest of Gladwin; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Fred and Charolett Priest; first wife, Lillian; brothers, Dale, Frank, Alvin and Neal; and sisters, Alice Cobb and Carol Ann Pratt. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 22 from 2-8 p.m. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Beaverton. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 23, 2011, 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Jim Hoggard Sr. officiating. He will be laid to rest at Beaverton Cemetery, Beaverton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Helping Hands of West Branch.
