Olson Lawrence Rix, 94, Binford, ND, was born December 9, 1911 in Willow Township in Griggs County near Binford, the son of Carl and Adelia (Adrian) Rix. He grew up and attended rural school there. He farmed in the Binford area until 1969 then he moved into Binford. he served on the Willow Township Board f rom 1950 to 1970 and also was the town constable of Binford for several years. Olson Lawrence Rix, 94, Binford, ND, was born December 9, 1911 in Willow Township in Griggs County near Binford, the son of Carl and Adelia (Adrian) Rix. He grew up and attended rural school there. He farmed in the Binford area until 1969 then he moved into Binford. he served on the Willow Township Board f rom 1950 to 1970 and also was the town constable of Binford for several years. He married Mabel Adrian August 4, 1973 in Binford. the couple made their home there. Mabel died February 13, 1977. Lawrence continued to make his home in Binford until December 1999 when he became a resident of the Cooperstown Medical Center-Nursing Home in Cooperstown, ND where he died Wednesday, July 5, 2006. He loved fishing, gardening, and traveling – the highlight of his travels came in 1971 when he went to New Zealand and Australia. Lawrence is survived by one son, Leroy (Janice) Adrian, Binford, ND; one daughter, Lois (Larry) Smith, Columbia Falls, MT; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Adelia; and one brother, Walter. Funeral services were held Monday, July 10, 2006 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Binford, ND. Interment will be in Binford Trinity Cemetery, Binford, ND. Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Homes. Published in the Griggs County Sentinel-Courier, Cooperstown, North Dakota, July 14, 2006.
