Description	:	Lawrence "Larry" S. Meier, 79, of Sterling, died Sunday, January 23, 2000, at home. Visitation will be from 10 am. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 25 at Tennant Funeral Home. Vigil and rosary ser vices will follow at 7 p.m., also at Tennant. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am. on Wednesday, Jan. 26 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Rev. Larry was born April 7, 1920 in Sterling to Joseph and Christina (Klein) Meier. He attended the St. Anthony schools in Sterling and graduated from Padroni High School with the class of 1939. He entered the Army Air Force Nov. 9, 1939 and served six years in Africa, Sardinia and Corsica. He was honored with an American Defense Service Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal. He married Anne Rose Shetina at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Denver on Feb. 21, 1946. He earned a BS in Business Administration and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Denver in 1949. Larry and Anne moved to Sterling in 1950 where Larry worked as a sales representative for Standard Oil until purchasing the Amoco Bulk Plant. He owned and operated the Amoco Bulk Plant in Sterling for almost 30 years. After retiring from Amoco he worked for Williams Realty. Larry was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, where he served on the parish council for many years while being actively involved in St. Anthony school. He was a 47-year member of the Elks Club. Larry was an avid golfer, devoted husband and enjoyed reading and dancing. He was a history buff and loved time with his family. Larry is survived by his wife Anne; daughter Marsha of Denver; son Larry and his wife Brenda of Fort Collins; his four sisters. Katherine Meier, Chris Sanger and husband Ed, Jo Swedensy, and Irene Meier; one brother, Lucas and wife Betty; five grandchildren, Sande and Amber Golgart, Melissa, Lindsey and Julee Meier; and one great-grand son, Carter Golgart. He was preceded in death by his. parents and sisters, Mary and Ann, and one brother George. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Anthony Furnace Fund or School, 324 S. 3rd Street.
