Y. and Luella (Louella) Houdesheldt, was born in Decatur County, Iowa, Sept. 3, 1897 and died at his home near the state line in Putnam County, Missouri on March 24, 1912 at the age of fourteen years, 6 months and 21 days. Lawrence was an ideal young man, loved and respected by all. He was at peace with God and passed away in full hope of life eternal. The house was filled with sorrowing friends that came to pay their last respects to this young man. Interment was in the beautiful cemetery at Livingston. Word was received here Saturday evening of the death of Lawrence Houdesheldt, son of Ham Houdesheldt at his home on the Sam Cassidy farm south of here in Putnam county, Mo. Death was caused by pneumonia fever. Mr. Wm. Houdesheldt and son George, went down Monday to attend the funeral, which was held at 2 p.m. at the residence Monday. Semi-Weekly Iowegian, Centerville, Iowa, Tuesday, March 26, 1912, page 1 School at Buffalo, over the line in Putnam Co. Mo., Miss Lora Davis teacher, did not begin till Tuesday of this week on account of the death of one of the pupils, Lawrence Houdesheldt, who had pneumonia. An operation was performed, tho not thot to be of serious nature, but he only lived a few days. The interment was at Livingston. This discourse was delivered by Rev. Worrel, of Cincinnati.
