Description	:	Lawton Johnson Sr., 77, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Conway Medical Center. Born July 10, 1930 in Conway, SC, he was a son of the late Murray C. and Nina Lundy Johnson. He was a member of Happy Home Baptist Church for 50 years, where he served as deacon, Sunday school teacher, and brotherhood director. He was a member of Woodman of the World. Mr. Johnson was predeceased by one sister, Madline Strickland; and five brothers, J.B. Johnson, Samuel Johnson Sr., Luther Lee Johnson, Dick Johnson, and James Norton Johnson. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Gladys Johnson of the home; one son, Lawton Johnson Jr. and his wife, Rhonda, of Galivants Ferry; four brothers, Wallace Johnson of Florence, Douglas Johnson of Chester, Errol Johnson of Conway, and Baylis Johnson of Conway; three grandchildren, Sherry Johnson of Myrtle Beach, Russell Johnson of Goose Creek, and Charlotte Johnson of Galivants Ferry; three great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Jerome Davis of Galivants Ferry. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at Happy Home Baptist Church, with the Rev. Davin Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to Happy Home Baptist Church, 2866 Nichols Hwy., Galivants Ferry, SC 29544.
