Darwin was assigned to the American Embassy Saigon, Echo Company, USMC Security Guard Battalion, Headquarters, USMC. LCpl Judge and Corp McMahon were standing guard at the Defense Attache Office, at Tan Son Nhut Air Base, when at approximately 0400H a 122MM rocket was fired at the building.
