Leah was born March 18, 1941 at Petersburg, NE to Henry and Helen (Graham) Winkler. She grew up at Petersburg and graduated from high school there. She attended business school for at least one year. She grew up at Petersburg and graduated from high school there. She attended business school for at least one year. She married Gurney Pittenger October 13, 1962 in Elkhorn, NE. After marriage they moved to Omaha. In 1973 the couple moved to Fremont. Leah worked at Grant and Milliken Park Elementary Schools as a school secretary until retiring in 1992. They moved to North Bend, NE in 2002. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend. Survivors include: her husband, Gurney Pittenger of North Bend; Son, Kevin and wife Keri Pittenger of Omaha; daughter, Karmen Pittenger of Basalt, CO; brothers, twin Larry and wife Diane Winkler of Colorado Springs, CO, Don and wife Shirley Winkler of Omaha, and Terry and wife Connie Winkler of Valley, NE; sisters, Roxie and husband Terry Lewis of Elkhorn, NE and Sheila Winkler of Omaha; grandchildren Jett and Winzlo Pittenger. Leah was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012 at St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend. The Revs. Fr. Ryan Lewis and Fr. Donald Cleary will officiate. Closed casket visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 P.M. and with the family receiving friends from 6-8 P.M. and a Rosary at 7 P.M. all at Moser Memorial Chapel, North Bend, NE. Interment will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Elkhorn, NE Memorials may be given to Poor Clares Sisters of Omaha.
