Description	:	Leaming Bradley was born on 11 June 1737 in Guilford, Connecticut, the son of Abraham Bradley 2nd and Reliance (Stone) Bradley. His given name was the maiden name of his paternal grandmother, Jane Leaming. His great-grandfather Stephen Bradley had come from Bingley, Yorkshire, England, to New Haven and then to Guilford with his mother Elizabeth Bradley in the mid-1600s. His given name was the maiden name of his paternal grandmother, Jane Leaming. His great-grandfather Stephen Bradley had come from Bingley, Yorkshire, England, to New Haven and then to Guilford with his mother Elizabeth Bradley in the mid-1600s. Leaming moved to Middletown, a thriving inland seaport on the Connecticut River. It is described as the largest and most prosperous settlement in Connecticut during the 18th century. There on 29 Nov 1759 he married Anna Parsons, daughter of Aaron Parsons and Abigail (Sanford) Parsons. She was the young widow of Smith Miller. Their first children were born in Middletown, including Lucretia and Aaron. Four more were born in Litchfield: Comfort, Lucy, Joseph and Anne. About 1769, the Leaming Bradley family moved to Litchfield, Litchfield County. There son Aaron served two enlistments in the Revolutionary War and son Comfort was a doctor. The family farmed and operated a blacksmith shop, store and tavern in the Bantam area on the west side of the Town of Litchfield. Descendants through his grandson Horace Bradley moved to Chenango County, New York, and Milwaukee and other locations in Wisconsin. His will is dated 20 April 1815, was probated 17 January 1823, and mentions his sons Joseph, Comfort and Aaron, and his daughters, Lucretia Stoddard, Lucy Kilborn and Anna Kilborn. Leaming Bradley was interred in the Bantam Burying Ground. He died at age 86, Litchfield and Morris Inscriptions volume states. His year of death is given as 1820, 1821 or 1822 in various sources.
