Description	:	Leander DeLong was born in Perry County, Ohio, February 12, 1829. Removed with his parents to Washington Co., Iowa, in 1846. He went to California in 1848, returning home in the early fifties, and settled in Keokuk county, on a farm 6 miles north of Sigourney. He was married to Sarah Brannan April 16, 1856. He made a public profession of faith in Christ and united with the Baptist church of Sigourney, being baptized by Rev. James Frey, April 16, 1865, and continued a faithful member of the church, until called to the higher life. Died November 1, 1908,... Read More	Leander DeLong was born in Perry County, Ohio, February 12, 1829. Removed with his parents to Washington Co., Iowa, in 1846. He went to California in 1848, returning home in the early fifties, and settled in Keokuk county, on a farm 6 miles north of Sigourney. He was married to Sarah Brannan April 16, 1856. James Frey, April 16, 1865, and continued a faithful member of the church, until called to the higher life. Died November 1, 1908, aged 79 yrs. 7 mos and 19 days. He leaves to mourn his loss the aged companion of more than fifty years, with one brother and one sister and a large circle of friends and neighbors. A quiet peaceable citizen, a loyal Christian, a loving husband, and an early settler has gone to his reward. Funeral from the Baptist church conducted by Rev. Byram and interment in West Cemetery.
