Adams Saturday central Mills county lost a citizen widely known and respected. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the East Liberty church conducted by Rev. H. G. Parker of Glenwood and Rev. George Hall of Silver City. Music for the service was furnished by Janice Hayes and Mrs. Joe Kruse with Marie Wright as accompanist. Maddocks, Roy Donner, and Earl Dashner. Mrs. Helen Hagle, Mrs. Clyde Barger and Mrs, W. H. Maddocks cared for the flowers. The following obituary was read: Leander Grant Adams, son of Nelson and Jemima Adams, was born in Lynn county, Iowa, Aug. 6, 1864, and departed this life Feb. 25, 1939, being 74 years, 6 months and 19 days of age. When he was 18 years of age he moved with his parents to Knox county, Neb. The journey was made overland in a covered wagon and thus he became a part of that great army of pioneers to help subdue this mighty west. June 16, 1886, he was united in marriage to Rose May Henderson of East Liberty. To this union were born three children, two sons and a daughter. They are Milo C. of Davis City, Mrs. Lelia Latchaw of Henderson and Ralph D. of north of Hastings. In 1888 the Adams family returned to Iowa where they haved since resided. At the age of 24 years Mr. Adams was converted and took up his duties as a Christian and has been active in the service of his Divine Master ever since. He leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife, the three children and three grandchildren, Dorothy Michal of Johnston, Neb., Evelyn Latchaw and Keith Adams. He also is survived by two brothers and three sisters; James Adams, Red Oak; Major Adams, Norway; Nora Bennett, his twin sister, and Lanie Brown of Keota, and Jane Drayton of Vancouver, British Columbia. Besides these there are many nieces and nephews and a great host of friends and acquaintances who remember him in great affection. Mr. Adams was a very tender and thoughtful husband and a wise and loving father. A man of many fine qualities who will be sadly missed in the community. Coming from a distance to attend the services Wednesday were Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Adams. R. G. Adams, Red Oak; Major Adams, Norway; Mrs. Lannie Brown, Mrs. Nora Bennett, Keota; Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Michel, Johnston, Neb.
