Following her wishes, Leanne has been cremated and a Memorial Service will be Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall. Leanne Mary (Garland) Beachler, was born in Ames, Iowa on December 31, 1952, the daughter of Robert and Marjorie (Flynn) Garland. She graduated from Ames High School in 1971. On June 16, 1973, Leanne married Richard Beachler in Ames. In earlier years, she worked as the Visual Merchandiser at the Sears Store, formerly in Ames, until 1984, when she stayed home to care for her family. Leanne enjoyed reading, making and selling crafts for her business, 'Beachler’s Barnyard' at craft shows, listening to music, collecting ceramic head dolls, flower and vegetable gardening, and taking care of her home and acreage. Leanne especially enjoyed her coffee and taking care of her dogs. She also enjoyed politics and often volunteered for the Democratic Party. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard in September of 2017; her father-in-law, Kenneth Beachler. Leanne is survived by a son, Ian Beachler and fiancée, Ashley Honts of Ames; a daughter, Aleda Richardson and husband, Timm of West Des Moines; mother-in-law, June Beachler of Wichita, Kansas; three brothers, Charles ‘Chuck’ Garland of Ames, Robert D. Garland and wife, LuAnn of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Sean Garland of Austin, Texas; a sister Linda Michalicek and husband, Steve of Spring, Texas; Leanne’s best friend and buddy, Winston, her Welsh Corgi dog; several nieces, nephews, and in laws. Friends may call at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel on Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m. On Tuesday, friends may call from 8 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. The family would like to thank the staff of Bethany Life Communities for their care and compassion extended towards Leanne.
