Born in Kellogg, IA, on Sept. 3, 1911, Mrs. Hesson, a homemaker, graduated from the Newton High School. She lived in Kellogg and Newton all of her life. She was employed as a library clerk at the Newton Public Library and Newton High School library until retiring in 1972. Mrs. Hesson was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Oak Ridge Grange, Elks Lodge No. 1270, Jasper County 4 H Clubs and bridge clubs. On Sept. 25, 1932, she married Don E. Hesson in Bethany, MO. He died in 1999. Mrs. Hesson also was preceded in death by her parents, Fount M. and Hattie Stepp; two brothers, Proctor and Bates Stepp; and two sisters, Roxie Noethe and an infant. Survivors include two sons, Maurice, Gower, and Paul, Masonville CO.; a brother, Earl Stepp, Kellogg; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral service was held Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Burial was in Newton Union Cemetery.
