Lee Madsen was born December 2, 1922 to parents Carl and Ethel (Dohman) Madsen in Hunter, ND. Lee graduated from Hunter High School in 1940. He married Janet Lambert on October 10, 1941. Lee enlisted in the US Army on January 27, 1943 and fought in the Pacific Theater: the Philippines, New Guinea and the occupation of Japan. He was honorably discharged on October 18, 1945. Lee Madsen was born December 2, 1922 to parents Carl and Ethel (Dohman) Madsen in Hunter, ND. Lee graduated from Hunter High School in 1940. He married Janet Lambert on October 10, 1941. Lee enlisted in the US Army on January 27, 1943 and fought in the Pacific Theater: the Philippines, New Guinea and the occupation of Japan. He was honorably discharged on October 18, 1945. Upon returning to Fargo Lee worked as a city bus driver then owned and operated a Texaco station with his brother, Carl. After selling the station Lee worked at NDSU with the campus police then with the vehicle maintenance department. He later became the head of the vehicle maintenance department until his retirement in 1985. Lee and Janet had three children, Nancy (Dennis) Brovold from Bemidji,MN, Skip (Jean) Madsen from San Diego, CA, and Steven Madsen from Salt Lake City, UT. Lee suffered from Alzheimer's disease for many years. He lived at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND since 2007 where he was well taken care of by the warm, compassionate staff. Lee is survived by his three children, 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Janet, one granddaughter and 7 brothers and sisters.
