Description	:	Lee Allen Hofer Tea – Lee Hofer, 69, of rural Tea, SD went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 31st, 2007. Lee was born June 28, 1937 to Christy & Edna Hofer. Read More	Lee Allen Hofer Tea – Lee Hofer, 69, of rural Tea, SD went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 31st, 2007. Lee was born June 28, 1937 to Christy & Edna Hofer. They farmed near Carpenter, SD and it was here that Lee gained the work ethic and the passion for making fine food that were to bring so many blessings in the years to come. He spent 4 years serving his Country in the United States Navy as a cook on a destroyer at the end of the Korean War. He was married to his precious wife, Doris (Epp), on May 25th, 1957. They worked very hard to successfully provide a good life for their three children. Lee loved his family and greatly enjoyed taking them on fishing and camping trips, always striving to provide a little extra fun for them by making sure there was a place to swim and taking them on tours of dams, state and national parks, and other engineering and natural wonders. In later years he loved taking his son, his sons-in-law and grandchildren on glorious hunting and fishing trips. He also was a pilot and loved to fly with his son. Early on, Lee's passion for the outdoors spawned some early entrepreneurial forays into hunting and fishing related businesses. These included supplying several bait shops with live bait and hand tied lures and also processing his and friend's deer on the kitchen table at their home in Sioux Falls! He and his wife, Doris founded the family business, Lee's Meats and Sausages in 1980. This in turn spawned many other entrepreneurial endeavors. Lee was a Sportsman in the truest sense of the word, actively hunting and fishing all over the U.S, Canada, and Mexico as well as Africa. He was suitably proud of his ever-growing collection of remarkable trophy fish and wildlife from all over the world. He was actively involved in numerous sportsman and wildlife conservation organizations, as well as the Tea airport and Delp township boards which he energetically supported with his time, expertise, finances, and by example. He was constantly working on some new project, creating new wildlife habitat or improving the same on his family property near Tea, SD. Lee was an active member of Good Shepherd Community Church (Mennonite) in Sioux Falls, SD. Ever active and bubbling with energy and enthusiasm, he was an example to his family and all who knew him. Years ago, Lee found a slogan he lived by that pithily expressed his joy in His Lord's Creation: "Inasmuch as ¾ of the Earth's surface is water and only ¼ is land, the Good Lord's intentions are very clear. A man's time should be divided ¾ for hunting and fishing, ¼ for work!" Thankful for having shared his life are his wife, Doris Hofer, Tea; 3 children, Valerie (Jim) Anderson, SF, Rhonda (Cregg) Else, SF, Chris (Angela) Hofer, Tea; 10 grandchildren, (by age) Joslyn, Zach (Kelli), and Jordan Else; Aubrey, Ariana, Bethany, and Rachel Anderson; Tristan, Ethan, and Aidan Hofer; 1 great-grandchild, Elijah Else; father, Christy Hofer, Huron, sister, Kaye Corcoran, Billings, MT., brother, Wayne (Jeannie) Hofer, Huron, and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, and nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna. Visitation at Miller West Funeral Chapel in Sioux Falls. Memorial celebration will be held at 1st Assembly of God located at 6300 W 41st Street in Sioux Falls, SD on Tuesday February 6th, 2007 with private family burial at Vermillion Cemetery.
