Claypool, 82, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away June 3, 2009, at the Franklin General Hospital Nursing Facility in Hampton, Iowa. Lee was the first of two sons born to Delos and Agnes (Crandall) Claypool in Hampton on September 25, 1926. Grade school was at the Stony Point School in Ross Township. He graduated from Hampton High School in 1944. Lee was married to Mavis Lubkeman at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton on November 21, 1948. He chose farming as his lifelong occupation, first working with his father, then continued on his own and later with his two sons. He had a special fondness for the family farm that provided him with so many memories and became a Century Farm in 2002. During his lifetime, besides being close to the land, he enjoyed woodworking, watching sports (especially his own family), playing cards and dancing at the Surf. He always enjoyed the summer vacations with family and looked forward to the family gatherings. In the Community Lee was a faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and also served as a 4-H Leader, Director of Farmers Coop Elevator, Director of Franklin County Beef Board and Director of the Franklin County Fair Board. He was a loving husband and kind father and will be missed by his wife Mavis and son Gary Claypool, Hampton and Val Edgington, Aspen Colorado; Son Bryce (Anne) Claypool, Hampton. Also grandchildren Gabe (Casey) Claypool , St. Louis Park, Minnesota; Sam (Emilee) Claypool, Los Angeles, California; Mackenzie (Tim) Morgan, Denver Colorado; Elliot Claypool, Venice, California; Kimberly Claypool, Ogden, Iowa; Michael Claypool and Fiancee Amber Crawford, West Burlington, Iowa; Spencer, Parker and Brady Claypool, Hampton, Iowa; two great granddaughters, Elizabeth Claypool, St. Louis Park, Minnesota and Stella Claypool, Los Angeles, California. A brother Roger (Sandra) Claypool, who live in New Hampton, Iowa also survives, and nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents and grandson Peter Ross Claypool
