Read More	SS as James & Emma Parker Bridge Lee Edward Bridge son of James and Emma Bridge was born in Franklin Center, Lee Co., Iowa, May 25, 1868, and died at the residence of his parents in Bonaparte, Sept. 15, 1887 age 19 yrs. 3 mos. and 20 days. His sickness was of about three weeks duration, but it was only within a day or two before his death that any danger was apprehended. Lee was well known by almost every one, having lived in the community from the days of his early childhood. No one ever knew any harm of him. He was never known to utter a profane word, nor to commit a wrong deed. He was respected and trusted by everyone, so much so, that he has filled places of trust, in the employ of others for years. Among others, he was deputy post master from the time that he was sixteen years of age, until within a short time before his death when he resigned with the expectation of going away to school. For this he had made all arrangements. But sickness and death determined otherwise. Although he had not made a public profession of religion; he did not leave this world without giving his parents the comforting assurance that it was all well with him. He was a daily reader of the scriptures, and never retired at night without offering up his evening prayer to God. And when well, his place in the Sabbath school and church was never vacant. He was a young man whom the church and community could ill afford to lose. But our Heavenly Father knew what was best and to his will we will all submit. His parents and the children have the heart felt sympathy of the entire community. This was evident from the large number of people that attended his funeral. The services took place from the Presbyterian church Saturday, Sept. 17, at 2 p.m. The services were conducted by Rev. James Welch, the former pastor of the church who delivered a short discourse from Isaiah 35:10. Revs. Henneigh, Baldridge and Barber also took part in the services. The pall bearers were Lee Cex (sic), Wm. Baber, Joe Israel, Jr., George Welch, Albert Smith, and Wm. Haney. All young men near about the age of the deceased.
