Description	:	CLEAR LAKE — Lee Friedrichs, 70, of 408 South Ninth St., died Saturday (July 25, 1998) at his home. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dennis Cahill officiating. Interment will follow at the Clear Lake Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Clear Lake VFW. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 North Fourth St., Clear Lake. Lee was born Sept. 17, 1927, in Butler county to Carl and Hattie (Abben) Friedrichs. The family later moved to rural Floyd County where Lee attended the Marble Rock Consolidated School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific Theater during the latter period of World War II. He was a continuous member of the VFW Post 4868 in Clear Lake for 35 years and served as quartermaster for a number of years. He was united in marriage to Marilou Klassen on Aug. 12, 1950, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Elma. The couple lived in Greene a short time before moving to Des Moines where Lee was employed by the district division of the Ford Motor Co. He progressed to the position of zone field manager, which included dealer contact work over a good share of Iowa. In 1963, Lee purchased the Ford dealership in Clear Lake which he operated into the 1970's. He later was a partner in several local businesses and purchased Clear Lake Appliance in 1978, which he operated until 1992 when he retired. Lee thoroughly enjoyed the 25 years he lived on North Shore and fully participated in both summer and winter activities on the lake. He was a dedicated Hawkeye fan and an overall sports fan. His most favorite pastime was playing golf. He was also an avid reader. He is survived by his wife, Marilou, Clear Lake; a daughter, Sandy Paulson, West Branch; two sons, Bob Friedrichs and his wife, Debbie, Mason City, and Scott Friedrichs, Philadelphia, Pa.; three grandchildren, Kristin Paulson, West Branch, and Jessica Friedrichs and Joe Friedrichs, both of Mason City; four sisters, Evelyn Staudt and her husband, Clarence, Marble Rock, Carol Davis and her husband, Ron, Rockford, Mary Koenigsfeld and her husband, Stephen, Marble Rock, and Wilma Bock and her husband, Richard, Charles City; one brother, Robert Friedrichs and his wife, Elva, Lisbon; and many nieces and nephews.
