Elizabeth received her education in the Wayne County High School in Monticello, KY graduating in 1948. Read More	Leila Elizabeth "Tootsie" Bonnett, daughter of Van Willis Russell and Flossie Emerea Harris Russell was born January 28, 1932 in Eadsville, Kentucky and passed from this life Monday, October 25, 2021 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center at 89 years of age. Elizabeth received her education in the Wayne County High School in Monticello, KY graduating in 1948. Shortly thereafter, the government purchased the farm to build the Wolfe Creek Dam and the family relocated to a farm near Colfax, Iowa. There, Elizabeth met and married a neighbor boy, Dale Bonnett. They were united in marriage on April 14, 1949 at Oskaloosa, Iowa and three children, Sherria Kaye, Terrell Edward and Vicki Sue blessed this union. The couple settled on a farm near Colfax, Iowa and Elizabeth worked at Monroe Company in Newton, Iowa. In 1954, they purchased a farm near Osceola where they lived for twelve years before moving to their current residence. Elizabeth was baptized into Christ at the age of 13 and was a faithful member of the Osceola Church of Christ where she served in many facets including a Bible School Teacher. Over the years, Elizabeth has been very involved with the Mosaic and Osceola Leisure Manor CARE review committees and served many years as a conservator for many Mosaic residents and as a foster parent in earlier years. She was also very involved with the Meals on Wheels program for Clarke County residents. In 1998, Elizabeth received the Governor's Award for volunteerism for her dedication and service to the community. Elizabeth was an avid gardener and was a talented seamstress making many of her own clothes and many items for family and friends over the years. She also enjoyed needlework, served as the girl's 4-H leader, loved to read and was a fabulous cook, her specialty was desserts. She also maintained a wonderful ministry of correspondence to people over the years. Whether it be a birthday card or a simple letter, it was important to Elizabeth to brighten someone's day with a note. Those relatives who preceded Elizabeth in death were her father, Van Willis Russell, mother, Flossie Emerea Harris Russell, husband of 55 years, Dale Edward Bonnett, grandchildren, April and Holly Bonnett, sisters, Marry Evelee Nolin, Juanita Sheets, Della Louise Loehr and also a sister in infancy, Regina Pauline. Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Sherria Kaye Lange of Clive, IA; son, Terrell Edward (Patti ) Bonnett of Topeka, KS; daughter, Vicki Sue (Russell ) Flaherty of Murray, IA; grandchildren, Crystal (John) Lange-Even of Longmont, CO, Amber Bonnett of Topeka, KS, Aubrey (Alex) VanderHamm of Newcastle, WA, Jerod (Jess) Flaherty of Murray, IA, Marie (Paul) Henry of Osceola, IA, Emily (Joe) Nadler of Earlham, IA; great-grandchildren, Ani Kaye Even, Luna Lee Even, Grant Flaherty, Isla Flaherty, Louella Flaherty and Madilynn Phillips. Also surviving are her brother, Bobby "Bob" (Donna) Russell of Mitchellville, IA, sisters, Betty Kuebler of Ft. Dodge, IA and Fanny (Wayne) Lunders of Pleasant Hill, IA as well as many other relatives, friends and Christian Brethren. Elizabeth was a fabulous mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an inspiration to many and will be missed by all. Services will be held at Kale Funeral Home - Osceola, Monday November 1, 2021 at 10:30 am with Wayne Brewer officiating. The family will greet friends from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Kale Funeral Home.
