LeJoyce Joanne Johnson was born May 7, 1935, at Brunsville, the daughter of William and Lucille (Thunhorst) Johnson. LeJoyce was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Grant Township. She received her early education at the Brunsville School and graduated from Le Mars Central High School in 1953. LeJoyce Joanne Johnson was born May 7, 1935, at Brunsville, the daughter of William and Lucille (Thunhorst) Johnson. LeJoyce was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Grant Township. She received her early education at the Brunsville School and graduated from Le Mars Central High School in 1953. LeJoyce was united in marriage to Stanley Jacobs on Feb. 26, 1954, at Christ Lutheran Church. LeJoyce and Stan farmed in Preston Township most of their married life. LeJoyce was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Preston Township. As a member of St. John, LeJoyce had been a member of the W.E.L.C.A., had taught Sunday School for several years, and had sung in the choir. LeJoyce enjoyed being a homemaker for her three children, Patty, Kevin, and Scott. She enjoyed bowling, tending to her flower garden, and attending the school activities of her children and later her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Stanley of Akron, three children and their families, Patty and her husband, Mike Kivett, and their children, Matt, John and Kayla of Gretna, Neb., Kevin and his wife, Sherry Jacobs, and their children, Lea, Mathew, Kyle and Chad of Akron, and Scott and his wife, Carissa Jacobs, and their son, Nicholas of Akron; a brother, David Johnson; three aunts and an uncle, Alice Buhman of Le Mars, Barbara Thunhorst of Primghar, and Kenneth and Marian Thunhorst of St. Paul, Minn.; and several cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lucille (Thunhorst) Johnson. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston Township, rural Akron, with the Rev. William Kallestad officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today (Monday) at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present after 6:30 p.m. to greet family and friends followed by a 7:30 p.m. prayer service Monday evening at the funeral home.
