She was born Sept. 7, 1926, in Allison, daughter of Herman and Wilhelmina (Wiebke) Niehaus. She received her education from country school Jackson Township No. 7, near her home. She married Russell Reints on April 18, 1948, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church-Vilmar. She and her husband farmed near Clarksville and later near Allison and Nashua. He died Jan. 7, 2000. Reints, 86, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Clarksville, died Thursday, July 4, at New Aldaya Lifescapes, Cedar Falls. She was born Sept. 7, 1926, in Allison, daughter of Herman and Wilhelmina (Wiebke) Niehaus. She received her education from country school Jackson Township No. 7, near her home. She married Russell Reints on April 18, 1948, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church-Vilmar. She and her husband farmed near Clarksville and later near Allison and Nashua. He died Jan. 7, 2000. Lela was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She played the organ for German services as well as regular Sunday services. She enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking, loved music and spending time with her family. She is survived by: three daughters, Sharon (Keith) Mensing of Greenfield; Jeanine Owen and Virginia (Mark) Fienup, both of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren, Matthew (Kayla) Mensing, Michelle Mensing, Jessica (Matt) Bullerman, Jennifer Westphal (fiance Brett Krantz) and Ann, Ben and Claire Fienup; two great-granddaughters, Addison and Morgan Bullerman; and three sisters-in-law, Liesa Niehaus of Allison and Pearl Hamilton and Viola Reints, both of Clarksville. She was preceded in death by: her husband; and two brothers, Emory Niehaus and Martin Niehaus. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church, with burial in Lynwood Cemetery, both in Clarksville. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Clarksville, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church. Memorials: directed to St. John Lutheran Church or Clarksville Library. Condolences: left at www.redman-schwartz.com.
