Lela Maude Thompson, daughter of Lincoln and Alice Myers, was born October 15, 1889, in Woodbury Co., near Anthon, the second oldest child in a family of five children. She grew up in the Lucky Valley vicinity, attended rural school and the Anthon Public School. She lived a short time in California with her grandmother, then returned to Anthon where she made her home for the rest of her life. Lela was married to Roy Thompson September 14, 1916, at Sioux City. They were presently living on a farm three miles northwest of Anthon. In recent years they have spent the winter months in Texas. She was a longtime member of the Rebekah Lodge #338 at Anthon. Survivors include her husband Roy; one sister, Mrs. Bessie Myers of Rodney; one brother, Raleigh Myers of Richland, Washington; three nieces and two nephews. She was preceded by one son, her parents, one sister and one brother.
