Clark and Ora Margaret Crass Clark, was born May 12, 1912 in Myrtle, MO, and died Dec. 23, 2003 in Thayer, at the age of 91 years. She was united in marriage to Charley Buckley who preceded her in death. She was married to Gayford Newman 27/Sep/1942 at Ozark, MO; who also preceded her in death. She was a seamstress, working in a garment factory in Springfield, MO, during World War II and was employed by the sewing factory in Thayer for 30 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and a friend to all. She was a great cook and was famous for her chicken and dumplings. She was a member of Byrd Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Norma Lee Essary and husband, Bert, of Springfield, MO; a son, Marc Newman of Alton, MO; a brother, Frank Clark of Granite City, IL; one sister, Neva Martin and husband, Lewis, of Thayer, MO; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service was Dec. 27 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, MO, with the Rev. Joe Garrison officiating. Burial in Myrtle Cemetery at Myrtle, MO, with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer.
