Description	:	GRETNA — Leland J. “Lee” Frecks, 77, of Minden died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at SilverRidge Assisted Living and Memory Support in Gretna. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden with the Rev. Donald Hunzeker officiating. Burial will be at Minden Cemetery before the memorial service. Craig Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of arrangements. Lee was born on Oct. 20, 1939, in Macon to John and Helene (Johnson) Frecks. Craig Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of arrangements. Lee was born on Oct. 20, 1939, in Macon to John and Helene (Johnson) Frecks. He grew up in the Franklin area and graduated from Franklin High School in 1958. On Nov. 27, 1960, he married Joan Schwenke in Minden. They moved to Lincoln in 1962 and returned to Minden in 1977. Lee worked for Schmidt International for a number of years until he began at the Nebraska State Department of Roads from which he retired in 2010. Lee was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden. He enjoyed spending time with his four grandsons, restoring old tractors and spending time taking drives through the country. He also loved attending his grandsons’ sporting and school activities. Survivors include his son, Kirk Frecks and wife Melissa of Minden; daughter, Kirstin Frecks-Edgman and husband Eric of Gretna; four grandsons, Dalton, Hunter, Grayson and Carter; one brother, Glenn Frecks and wife Karol of Holdrege; two brothers-in-law, Jack Schwenke and wife Jan of Fort Morgan, Colo., and Gene Schwenke and wife Jan of Lincoln. He also had many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Joan.
