Description	:	Leland Clement: Leland "Tag" Clement, 84, of Careage of Newton, formerly of the Metz area, died from complications of Alzheimer's Disease on Wednesday, May 2. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Newton. Burial will be at Sugar Grove Cemetery in rural Newton. Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements. The son of Homer H. and Carrie Lind Clement, he was born Sept. 16, 1916 in Newton. He graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1933 and farmed in the Metz area all his life. On August 15, 1943, he married Irene Ballard of Monroe. He later married Arlene Edwards of Washington on June 12, 1989. Mr. Clement was a member of the Jasper County Farm Bureau, Sugar Grove Grange, American Angus Association, was very active as a 4-H leader for many years and was involved in many agricultural organizations. Survivors include his wife, Arlene; six sons, Conrad of Cresco, Larry of Fort Dodge, Bruce of Des Moines, Stan of Newton, Dave of Ottumwa and Brad of Marshalltown; a daughter, Carmen Henderson of Odenville, Ala.; a sister, Elda Rorabaugh of Colfax; 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Irene, and a brother.
