Mrs. McCammon received her education at the Granville Female College where she specialized in music. Although gifted with an unusually lovely voice that was like the trill of a bird and that had the power to chain vast audiences at her feet, she was always sweetly natural and ever ready to sacrifice herself for others. She came to Valley Falls in 1877 where she immediately took a prominent place among the music lovers, as a singer and pianist. On Nov. 15, 1882 [in Valley Falls], she was married to George W. McCammon, who passed; away 10 years ago. To this union were born three daughters, Lua, Josephine and Constance, who with her mother, Mrs. Anna C. Goodrich, of Valley Falls; brother, H. S. Goodrich of Orondo, Wash.; and sisters Mrs. A. D. Kendall, Misses Alma and Lida Goodrich of Valley Falls and Mrs. Grant U. Allen, of Spokane, Wash., survive her. With the exception of one year spent in Topeka, she made this her home until the fall of 1908, when she moved to Lawrence, in order that her daughters might complete their education at the State University.
