Description	:	Hello, I believe that Lemuel Foland might be an adopted child of John and Sarah McQuay Foland. Lemuel was born in 1845 and John and Sarah were not married until Feb 23, 1846. Lemuel is listed as Lemuel Kisler, age 5 with Rebecca Kisler aged 55 living with John and Sarah Foland on the 1850 census. On the 1860 census, he is listed as Lemuel Foland. I think he was either Rebecca's grandson or John Foland's son by a prev marriage (bef he mar Sarah McQuay). On Lemuel's death cert which can be found on Ancestry John Foland is listed as Father mother is Unknown. I assume if Sarah were his real mother someone would have known but if John had mar prev maybe her name was never mentioned??? As John mar Sarah when Lemuel was only abt 1 yr old. Lemuel is listed on the 1850 census as Lemuel Kisler age 5 along with Rebecca Kisler age 55 living in the household of John and Sarah Foland in Shenandoah, VA. On the 1860 census he is listed as Lemuel Foland, age 15 living in the household of John and Sarah Foland in Centre, Wayne, IN. Rebecca Kisler is not listed. John and Sarah McQuay Foland were married Feb 23, 1846. Lemuel Kisler was born in 1845. I believe that Lemuel Kisler was the adopted son of John and Sarah Foland, not their son by birth. John and Sarah Foland are my 2nd great grandparents.
