Description	:	Victor: Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the McAninch funeral home for Lemuel G. Bird, 68, of Mason City, a former resident of this community. Rev. Martin Greer officiated. Arthur Lang sang "Shadows" and "Beautiful Garden of Prayer", accompanied by Mrs. Vern Ochletree. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. Serving as casket bearers were grandsons, Donald Bird of Delta, Harold Bird of Sigourney, Charles, Jimmie and Wallace Rhinehart of Brooklyn and Leslie, Ray and Kenneth Nace of Victor. Lemuel G. Bird, eldest son of Daniel and Nancy Bird, was born near Marengo, May 22, 1880, and passed away Feb. 22, 1949, at Mason City after a lingering illness. Employed by Northwestern He was born and lived on a farm until he went to railroading in 1916. In 1925 he moved to Mason City where he continued to work for Chicago and Northwestern railroad until his recent illness. Surviving are his wife, Mary, two sons, Wilbur White of Vinton and Charlie of Vista, CA., four daughters, Mrs. Eva Burk of Brooklyn, Eathyl Bird of Delta, Mrs. Mildred Nace of Victor, and Mrs. Mabel Rhinehart of Brooklyn. Also surviving are three brothers, Grover of Sigourney, Roy of Belle Plaine and Jerry of Delta, four sisters, Mrs. Eva Potter of Belle Plaine, Mrs. Lulu Wright of Iowa City, Mrs. Elsie North of Springfield, MO., and Mrs. Dolly Tarnutzer of Rock Island, IL., also 22 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. His parents, three brothers and two sisters preceeded him in death. Mr. Bird was a member of the Wesley Methodist church of Mason City. He was also affiliated with the Woodmen Lodge, Loyal Order of Moose, the Veteran Association of the Northwestern railroad and other railroad organizations. He was married to Mrs. Mary Mercer White Sept. 1, 1918, at Carnforth by the Rev. Wm. Maxwell of the Congregational church. For a time following their marriage they resided at Carnforth.
