Description	:	Lemuel Kennedy Witherington was the son of Rebin and Penelope Moore Witherington and husband of Lucretia Witherington. He enlisted in Company C, NC 31st Infantry Batalion January 28, 1862 in Pitt County to serve in the Civil War. He was promoted to full corporal May 30, 1863. On October 2, 1863 he mustered out.
