Mrs. Benton was born on September 4, 1922, a daughter of the late Landy Crawford and Mattie McGee Crawford. She was a graduate of Flora McDonald College and Draughons Business College. Lena was secretary for 4th Corp Army Reserve and retired from H & T Sales Company after 35 years as bookkeeper. She was a member of Beulah Free Will Baptist Church in Pamplico. After moving to Kingstree, she attended Williamsburg Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Church Circle.
