Description	:	Lena Ernstine Reese was born January 4,1881, on a farm in Morgan Township, Crawford County, Iowa, the daughter of Hans Lohse and Lena Lage Lohse. She died Wednesday, January 7,1981, at Eventide Lutheran Home for the aged in Denison, Iowa, having attained the age of 100 years and 3 days. Lena received her formal education at the local rural schools in Morgan Township.She was baptized and confirmed at the Grant Township Lutheran Church in Ida County at an early age. Read More	Lena Ernstine Reese was born January 4,1881, on a farm in Morgan Township, Crawford County, Iowa, the daughter of Hans Lohse and Lena Lage Lohse. She died Wednesday, January 7,1981, at Eventide Lutheran Home for the aged in Denison, Iowa, having attained the age of 100 years and 3 days. Lena received her formal education at the local rural schools in Morgan Township.She was baptized and confirmed at the Grant Township Lutheran Church in Ida County at an early age. On June 16, 1903, Lena was united in marriage with William Reese at the Grant Township Lutheran Church in Ida County. They made their home on a farm near Morgan Township until 1933 when they retired and moved to Schleswig. William preceded Lena in death December 19, 1951, and she continued to make her home in Schleswig. In 1976, Lena resided with her children for a year before moving to the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, November 4, 1977, where she had since resided. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Schleswig and a member of the Ladies Aid, and Dorcas in that church. Including her husband and parents, Lena was preceded in death by two sons, Hugo and Elroy Reese, one Grandson, Louis Reese, three brothers, Johannes, Carl and Theodore Lohse and four sisters, Emma Jacobsen, Bertha Wellendorf, Alma Johannsen, and Annie Lohse. She is survived by one son, Robert Reese of Northwood, Iowa, nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 1981 at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig, Iowa, with Rev. Fred Moore officiating. Comfort in music was provided by the congregation with Evelyn Johnson as organist. Bearers included Arthur Reese, Dale Reese, Michael Reese, Jon Reese, Donald Reffert. and Bob Reinking.
