Lena Kempton - Athens - Lena Kempton, 96, of Hudson Avenue died this morning, April 17, 1995, at Hickory Creek Nursing Center, The Plains, after an extended illness. She was born July 15, 1898, in Jacksonville, daughter of the late August and Zoa Gillet Binderbasin. Mrs. Kempton lived most of her life in the Athens area. She was a member of Athens First Christian Church and Athens Garden Club. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Laura Maxine Kempton of Athens; two granddaughters, Joan Kempton of Cincinnati and Annie Deleweese of Columbus; two grandsons, Tom Kempton... She was born July 15, 1898, in Jacksonville, daughter of the late August and Zoa Gillet Binderbasin. Mrs. Kempton lived most of her life in the Athens area. She was a member of Athens First Christian Church and Athens Garden Club. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Laura Maxine Kempton of Athens; two granddaughters, Joan Kempton of Cincinnati and Annie Deleweese of Columbus; two grandsons, Tom Kempton of Cincinnati and David Kempton of Naples, Fla; and two great-grandsons, Zachary Kempton of Athens and Steven Kempton of Cincinnati. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vern C. in 1978; a son Delmar; and four sisters, Dessie Chapman, Lydia Strausser, Gusta Anderson and Freda Hahn. Services will be Thursday at 1pm at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Hibbard officiating. Burial will be in West Union Street Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9pm and Thursday from 11am until the time of service. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to First Christian Church, West State and North Congress Streets, Athens, 45701.
