Description	:	Lena Van Bruggen, 84, of Ireton died suddenly Thurs. June 27, at Orange City Municipal Hospital after being stricken at her home. Memorial services were at 11 a.m. Mon. July 1, at the Christian Reformed Church in Ireton with the Rev. Gary Luurtsema officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center. Mrs. Van Bruggen, the former Lena Kneubel, was born March 12, 1912, in rural Prairie View, Kansas, the daughter of Titus and Fannie (Dekker) Kneubel. Mrs. Van Bruggen, the former Lena Kneubel, was born March 12, 1912, in rural Prairie View, Kansas, the daughter of Titus and Fannie (Dekker) Kneubel. She was raised and educated in the Sioux Center area and married Henry Van Bruggen on Nov. 19, 1929, in rural Ireton. The couple made their home in Ireton and farmed near there. She was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Ireton and a former member of the Martha Circle of the church and the Christian School Guild. She was also a former Calvinette counselor. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Ted and his wife Eunice of Sioux Center and Harold of Thurman; two daughters and the husbands, Jean and George Huizenga and Arlys and Dennis Feenstra, all of Orange City; four sisters, Jeanette Brouwer of Zeeland, MI, Fannie Dekker and her husband John of Ireton, and Helen Van Bruggen and Laverne Van Zyl and her husband Herman, all of Lansing, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Arlin; a daughter-in-law, Mary Van Bruggen; a brother, John; and four sisters, Allie Beimers, Henrietta Vande Kieft, Trennie Cooper and Christine Vellinga. Memorials may be given in her name to the Ireton Rescue Unit or the Ireton Christian School.
