Description	:	August Kuhn and Lena Kuhn. August was a farmer at Creston, NE for several years and lived there with his wife, Lena. Later, he and Lena moved to Columbus where he became a house painter and did both exterior and interior painting. Lena made beautiful crocheted doilies and had quite a sense of humor. She understood and tolerated her prankster husband. August liked to play tricks on his family and friends and once taught two girls from the community a song in German. She understood and tolerated her prankster husband. August liked to play tricks on his family and friends and once taught two girls from the community a song in German. The words to the song were, "You are the light of my heart" but August taught them "You are the light of my a- -". You can imagine how upset they were when the German audience started laughing! He once froze a cow pie in the freezer and gave some of it to a 5 year old neighbor boy. He told the boy to have his mother put some on his ice cream and that it would taste yummy. This mother was horrified! Two of August's grandnephews, Michael and Raymond Buhlmann laughed hysterically when they were @ 4 and 5 years old and August taught them a card game he invented called "sauerkraut"! He also had an old car that would backfire and would accuse whoever was riding in the back seat that the sounds were coming from their bodies. Lena was a more gentle soul. She raised beautiful flowers and would often nurse a sick bird, squirrel, possum or whatever back to health much to August's frustration! Meschke at Gass-Haney Funeral Chapel and Immanuel Lutheran Church. Pallbearers were Paul Zobel, Eugene and Douglas Kuhn, Jake Mohr Jr., Erwin Schacher and Fred Irwin. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Creston.
