She passed to the great beyond Saturday, October 5 at an advanced age. With her death, the community has lost one of its kind and good mothers, and although she had been in failing health for some time, the news of her death was learned with much grief. She was of a quiet and loving disposition, always having a kind word for everyone who came in contact with her. She was first of all a home woman, and gave the best of her life to the care and comfort of her loved ones. Because of her kindly disposition she had a wide circle of friends who are deeply grieved because of her death. She leave to mourn her loss her deeply bereaved companion, one son and six daughters as follows: Carl and Alma at home, Mrs. Victor Borgelt, Mrs. Theodore Nienheuser, Mrs. John Paul, and Mrs. Oliver Guhleman, all living in the vicinity where the parents resided. She was born in Femme Osage, May 6, 1846, and was married to Henry F. Gerdeman, who shared the joys and sorrows with her for nearly a half century. In addition to her husband and children, she leaves an aged brother at Holstein in Warren county. Two children a son and a daughter preceded the mother to eternity. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. Stroetker, formerly of this place. After the services the weary body was laid o rest in the family burying ground. A number of relatives and friends were in attendance to pay a highly esteemed citizen a final tribute. The husband and children have the heartfelt sympathy of many friends in their bereavement. – Cappeln Cor (the Warrenton Banner, October 1918).
