Description	:	Miss Lena Edelen was born in Etna, Missouri, the daughter of the late Dr. Richard M. and Rebecca J. Edelen. Her early school life was spent in the public school at Etna. She was graduated from the Kirksville Normal School in 1898 and from the University of Missouri in 1912. She commenced teaching at the age of 18 years and made it her life's work. She taught in Memphis, Kahoka, Hot Springs, Arkansas, Enid, Oklahoma and of late years in the Gorin High School. She always made her home in this vicinity, having lived at... Read More	Miss Lena Edelen was born in Etna, Missouri, the daughter of the late Dr. Richard M. and Rebecca J. Edelen. Her early school life was spent in the public school at Etna. She was graduated from the Kirksville Normal School in 1898 and from the University of Missouri in 1912. She commenced teaching at the age of 18 years and made it her life's work. She taught in Memphis, Kahoka, Hot Springs, Arkansas, Enid, Oklahoma and of late years in the Gorin High School. She always made her home in this vicinity, having lived at Wyaconda before moving to Gorin. Miss Lena was loved by all who knew her and numbered her friends by her acquaintances. She was a member of Gorin Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and Christian Church. For the fast few years she has been failing in health and had not taught school but had spent quite a lot of time traveling. She went to Kansas City a few months ago for a major surgical operation and on leaving the hospital she went to the home of her brother, George M. Edelen, in Kansas City, where she passed away on April 27, 1931. The remains were brought to Gorin where funeral services were conducted by Rev. Nickel, a former pastor, on Wednesday afternoon, April 29, and the remains were laid to rest in the Etna Cemetery. Gorin Argus - May 5, 1931 ed., P1, C6
