Description	:	Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent Saturday, 19 October 1918 Cairo, Neb., Oct. 19 - Lena Vierk, 14 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Vierk, passed away at the home of her parents, one half mile north of Cairo on Thursday evening, death resulting from pneumonia, following an attack of influenza, and a hemorrhage of the lungs. Two sons, Victor and Le Roy, are said to be quite ill at the present time. The deceased had been afflicted with a curvature of the spine since infancy. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock from the home and were conducted out of doors. Rev. Shattack had charge of the services and interment was made in the Cairo cemetery.
