Read More	The Edgar Sun (Edgar, NE) Fri, Jun 15, 1934 - pg. 1 Mrs. Swan Nelson Mrs. Swan Nelson was born in Kiaby congregation, Kristianstad province, Sweden, June 19. 1858 and passed away at Harvard, Nebraska June 8, 1934 at the age of 75 ears, 11 months and 20 days. Mrs. Nelson was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Sweden. She was married to Swan Nelson October 27, 1879 at Kristianstad, Sweden. This union was blessed with seven children, Thilda, Nels, Anton, August, Gottfrid, Ida and Edwin. She arrived in America April 28, 1890, locating on a farm southeast of Ong, Nebraska, where the Nelsons lived for five years, later locating on a farm south of Edgar, Nebr., where they lived until 23 years ago when they moved to Edgar where she resided 20 years. The last three years of her life she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Henry Erickson, living northeast o Edgar until last spring when the Erickson family and Mrs. Nelson moved to Harvard. Mrs. Nelson with her family, became members of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church of Ong, January 4, 1899, in which congregation she was a member during her many years of residence at Edgar. Her husband Swan Nelson and an infant son, Gottfrid, preceded her to God's great eternal world. Mr. Nelson passed away April 4, 1920. Left to mourn her departure are: Six children, Mrs. Henry Erickson of Harvard, Nels of Marysville, Kansas; Anton of Edgar, August of Polk, Nebraska; Mrs. Francis Skinner of Fairfield, Nebraska and Edwin of Osceola, Nebraska; one sister in Sweden, fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and many dear friends. Mrs. Nelson was a devoted mother. Being more or less infirm in body the last years of her life she has been tenderly cared for by her children. She was always glad and grateful to have the Word of God read to her. The sacrament of the body and blood of Jesus, we believe, she cherished deeply in her heart. God grant that we may meet her again in a better country at home with Jesus some radiant, blessed day. Funeral services were held from the Henry Erickson home at Harvard at 2 o'clock Sunday, June 10. The pastor, Rev Henning L. Hassel of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church at Ong used as text Rom 8:25, choosing as theme, "Hoping and waiting for things unseen." With singular tenderness and exquisite beauty comforting messages were rendered in song by Mrs. Carl Erickson and Mrs. Emmert Nelson. The songs rendered at the home were, "There Is a Gate That Stands Ajar," "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "Rock of Ages." and at the grave, "Shall We Meet Beyond the River." Interment was made in the Edgar Cemetery, "Beyond the River's brink we'll lay The cross that here is given, And bear the crown of life away, And love Him more in heaven." -----Contributed.
