She was born on April 27, 1921 to Otis and Fannie (Jordan) Norris in Shannon County, Missouri. Lena was united in marriage to Glenn Thompson in 1940. Two sons were born to this union, Dwain and Dallas. Lena professed her faith in God at an early age, was baptized and joined the Methodist Church. She was kind and helpful to those around her. Read More	Lena Thompson, 94, of Winona, Missouri, departed this life on August 17, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born on April 27, 1921 to Otis and Fannie (Jordan) Norris in Shannon County, Missouri. Lena was united in marriage to Glenn Thompson in 1940. Two sons were born to this union, Dwain and Dallas. Lena professed her faith in God at an early age, was baptized and joined the Methodist Church. She was kind and helpful to those around her. She was known as “Nanny” to many generations of children. Lena was a gracious lady who will be missed by many friends and family. She will also be remembered for her “fried pies” and for her beautiful handmade quilts. Lena was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn; son, Dwain Thompson; infant grandson, Darren Thompson; two brothers, Gerald and Laird Norris; and one sister, Eva Hughes. She is survived by one son, Dallas Thompson and wife, Twila, of Winona; one daughter in law, Sherrie Thompson, of Hollister, MO; also a precious granddaughter, Tracy Norris of Winona, who was raised as a daughter by Lena and Glenn, since she was a baby; two grandsons, Robert Thompson and wife, Clara, of Fayetteville, NC and Jonathan Mensendick and wife, Emily, of Winona; three great granddaughters, Lindsay Norris, Holli Norris, and Ashlee Sites, all of Winona; five great grandsons, Glen and Joseph Thompson of Fayetteville, NC, Keeton Mensendick, Chevy and Canaan Johnston of Winona; six great great grandchildren, Kyleigh and Karson Smith, Aubree, Blaedyn, Rylan, and Tucker Sites, all of Winona. She also leaves one sister, Josephine Ladd of Powell, WY; one brother, Marvin Norris of Willow Springs, MO; and several special nieces and nephews and many relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2015 at Pinelawn Cemetery, Winona, Missouri with Pastor Greg Richardson officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at Calvary Baptist Church, Winona, from 11:00-1:00 p.m. Interment will be held in Pinelawn Cemetery under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View, Missouri.
