Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of the late Henry Grady Blanton and daughter of the late Joseph S. Whelchel and Bessie Spencer Whelchel. Blanton and wife, Patti, of Gaffney; a daughter, Linda Blume, of Orangeburg; six grandchildren, Willis Blume, Jr and wife, Lisa, Catherine Blanton Barnes, and husband, Dennis, Angela Blume Marterer and husband, Dr. Aaron, Emily Blume Thayer and husband, Robbie, Lacey Blanton, Carrie Blanton Baker and husband, Benjamin; five great-grandchildren, Ann Blume, Morgan Barnes, Lenora Marterer, Genevieve Marterer and Robbie Baker. Mrs. Blanton was preceded in death by six brothers, Homer, Rhett, Harry, Finley, Eula and Joe; four sisters, Rachel W. Jolly, Polly W. Clary, Irene W. Patterson and Sarah W. Horn; and a son-in-law, Willis Blume. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Midway Baptist Church. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Vernon Craig and Rev. Jack Phillips officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
