Read More	Obituary: Stanton Register October 31, 1918 Lenora [sic] Elizabeth Perry was born at Worcester, Massachusetts, January 16, 1845 and died at Stanton, Nebraska, October 21, 1918 at the age of 73 years, 9 months and 5 days. On September 5, 1872 she was married to Samuel W. Lackey, who with two children, LeRoy S. of Norfolk Nebraska and Elizabeth R. Chace of Pilger, Nebraska survive to mourn the loss of a faithful wife and a devoted mother. Another son, Frank Dexter, preceded her to the House Beautiful at the age of two years. Two brothers, Frank D. and Edward C. Perry of Worcester, Massachusetts, and three grandchildren survive her. She graduated from the Worcester high school and taught in the schools of that city for a number of years. On October 16, 1883, she came to Stanton county, Nebraska, with her two children, to join her husband who came here the spring before. They made their home in the Maple Creek neighborhood, being one of the very earliest families in that part of the country. She was a very devoted church worker and the first devotional services in the locality was the Maple Creek Sunday School, held in her home. Many of the former Stanton county residents will remember her work and uplifting help when superintendent of the Maple Creek Sunday school, and her efforts to build up God's Kingdom among those around her. She was one of the founders of the Maple Creek Congregational church and after her removal to Stanton, she entered the membership of the Stanton Congregational church. Being afflicted for many years and unable to attend church worship, she would often read her Bible and talk of the Father whom she loved, counseling her loved ones to follow in the Father's footsteps. In the waning afternoon she quietly and peacefully slipped from us who held her dear, to the place reserved for her among the angels, where we know she is happy and free from the pains and cares of this life, which had so long bound her. The funeral was conducted from the Congregational church Wednesday afternoon, October 23, 1918, Rev. J. J. Klopp preaching the funeral sermon. The Congregational quartet composed of Mrs. Bess Harris, Miss Hilda Krenzien, Mr. J. H. Welch and Mr. Arthur Pilger, sang several beautiful songs. She was buried in beautiful Stanton cemetery there to await the final call from on high.
