Description	:	Funeral services for Lenore Pfeifle, 82, of Pierre and formerly of Mound City will be Friday, September 28 at the Herreid Baptist Church in Herreid. Pastor Steve Swann will officiate. Burial will be in the Mound City Cemetery in Mound City under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Mrs. Pfeifle passed away September 25, 2007 at Mary House in Pierre. Lenore Pfeifle daughter of Siegfried & Magdalena (Schott) Heisler was the 13th child born on the 13th of June 1925. She lived with her parents on a farm one-half mile west of Mound City, attended grade school and two years of high school at Mound City. During this time she worked part time at Noste's Store. Lenore graduated from Herreid High School in 1943 and the following fall began working at the Campbell co. Extension office and also served as the Deputy Register of Deeds. Lenore married Walter Pfeifle on September 28, 1947. Following their marriage they moved to Sturgis, SD where they lived until 1948 when they moved to Kansas City, Missouri. When living there Lenore worked in the Credit Dept at Consumers Cooperative Association, They returned to South Dakota in 1949 and made their home on the Heisler family farm. Lenore worked part time for Chester Solmonson in the Campbell Co. Abstract Office. In 1961 they had a farm auction and moved into Mound City where they bought and operated Walt's U-Save grocery store. In 1964 Lenore was elected to the office of County Auditor. She held that office for 30 years, retiring on March 3, 1995. She also served as Campbell Co. Civil Defense Director. Lenore was selected to appear in the 1967 edition of outstanding Civic Leaders of America, she was a 30 year member of the State Association of county Officials and was the association's president in 1990. Lenore was a member of the Herreid Baptist Church, taught Sunday School and was a member of the Women's Missionary Fellowship. She is survived by her son Tom (Mary) Pfeifle of Albuquerque, NM, and daughter Penny (Chris) Nelson of Pierre, SD, Grandchildren Heather (Craig) Ullmann, Rebekah Nelson, Tim (Mandie) Pfeifle, Sara Pfeifle, and great grandchildren Dominic and Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter in 2001, brothers Johnny, Frank, Siegfried, Edwin, Emil, Benjamin, Andrew, Royal and Leslie; sisters Magdalena, Regina and Bertha.
