Description	:	Leo Arthur Roesler was a longtime Mobridge resident, leaving his farm near Akaska to move to Mobridge with his wife Selma in 1963. They operated the Cue and Cushion until 1966. After that, he work at Quenzer Autoland, Vojta Furniture, Yates/Skelly, Mobridge Iron Works and was locally known for his mechanical expertise in fixing balers. Having his children and grandchildren visit put him in great spirits and his teasing and storytelling went into high gear. He was also an avid pheasant hunter. The last few years saw his health failing and he and Selma entered the Good Samaritan Center in Selby in 1995. His lady Selma died Oct. 16, 1999. Leo died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at the Good Samaritan Center in Selby at the age of 86. The son of Jacob and Katharina (Hoff) Roesler, Leo was born June 1, 1919, on their farm near Akaska. He grew up on their farm and attended a rural grade school, then went to Java High School where he graduated in 1938. He met Selma Sulzle at a confirmation class and on Sept. 11, 1940, he and Selma were married in Aberdeen. They made their home on a farm in the Akaska area where they lived, farmed and raised their family before moving to Mobridge. Survivors include one son, Rodney Roesler of Phoenix, Ariz.; four daughters, Arlyce (David) Lewis of Broomfield, Colo., Twyla Israel of Rapid City, Janice (John) Fiedler of Stayton, Ore., and Brenda Roesler of Madison; and four grandchildren. In addition to his wife Selma, Leo was preceded in death by his twin sister who had died at birth, and his sister Freda (Herman) Bergman, who died in 2003. The funeral for Leo was Wednesday, Feb. 8, at St. John Lutheran Church in Selby. The Rev. Dennis Fonkert officiated. Nancy Stroh was organist and Alfred Reuer was soloist for "You Will Always Be a Child." The congregation sang "Amazing Grace" and "In The Garden." Casketbearers were Justin Israel, Matt Fiedler, Ralph Kulm, Ron Hepper, Dean Gosch and Larry Lutz. The staff of the Good Samaritan Center in Selby and all Leo's friends were considered honorary bearers. Burial was in Selby Memorial Gardens under the direction of Larson's Funeral Home of Mobridge. A family service was held Tuesday evening at Kesling Funeral Chapel in Mobridge. Mobridge Tribune February 15, 2006
