Read More	Leo Edward Luther was born on December 31, 1918, in Cedar County, Missouri, to Edward Levi Luther and Zella Vergie Simmons. He was the 5th child born to his parents. In 1920, aged 2, Leo was living in Speedwell, St Clair, Missouri with his parents and siblings. They are living on a farm that they own and Leo's fathers occupation is a farmer for a general farm. Sometime after 1922, Leos father moved the family to Butler County, Kansas. In 1925, aged 7, Leo is living in El Dorado, Butler, Kansas with his parents and siblings. They were living at 218 8th Avenue in El Dorado. Leos fathers occupation was a farmer. In 1930, Leo is a 12-year-old school boy living in, Speedwell, St Clair, Missouri with his parents and siblings. They own their own farm and his father is listed as a farmer for a general farm. Leo attended Stoney Point School in Cedar County, Missouri. While attending the school he met his future wife, Cynthia Elizabeth Fletcher. On 3 January 1936, Leo is working in Oakland California at a paper mill. He is 17-years-old. At the age of 19, on 14 Apr 1938, Leo joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. His records are under Serial Number: CC7-325763. He was sent to camp SCS-No.14, in Butler, Missouri and then transferred to camp 3753, in Schell Knob, Missouri. On 16 Oct 1938, he was transferred to Recon CP at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He was then transferred to C. 3744 in Basin, Wyoming and again transferred to Dg-25-W on 19 Oct 1938. He worked in the department of grazing. He was at this camp until his discharge on 31 March 1939. On 1 April 1940, aged 21, Leo is living in Nehawka, Cass, Nebraska. He is listed in the household of Senn Waddell and gives his occupation as a hired man. He is listed with having completed high school. On 27 September 1940, in Papillion, Nebraska, 21-year-old Leo Luther married 21-year-old Cynthia Elizabeth Fletcher. They would be blessed with 8 children in their marriage. Sometime in or around 1946, Leo moved his family to Outlook, Washington from Missouri. While in Washington they would welcome three daughters and a son to their family. On 24 April 1950, Leo and Elizabeth bought lots 1 & 2, block 5, in Outlook, Washington for $1,700. The property would remain with the Lutherfs for the next 50-years. On 6 August 1956, in Yakima County, Washington Leo and Elizabeth filed for divorce. Their case number for the divorce was 16336. Leo would go on and remarry Jeanette Louise Elliott. On 23 May 1967, in Carson City, Nevada, 48-year-old Leo married 27-year-old Jeanette. They would be blessed with 9 children in their marriage. Jeanette and Leo were together for almost 10-years before they were actually married. They had 7 children born to them before their marriage was actually legal. On 7 November 2009, Leo went to his country home in Bickelton, Washington. There was some kind of accident that led to Leo being burned over 90% of his body. He would later die at the Seattle Harborview medical center from these burns. He was 90-years-old. ____________________________________ Leo Edward Luther age 90, of Sunnyside, WA was escorted by the angels into the gates of Heaven on Saturday, November 7, 2009. He passed in Harborview Medical Center in Seattle due to burn injures he obtained in an accident at his country home in Bickleton, WA on Friday, November 6, 2009. He was born in Cedar County, Missouri one of 12 children on December 31, 1918 to Edward Levi and Virgil Simmons Luther. He attended Stoney Point School in Cedar County, Missouri. He was married to his grade school sweetheart, Cynthia "Elizabeth" Fletcher, in October 1941. He joined the The Civilian Conservation Corps in 1936 until 1939. He farmed in Missouri and in 1946 moved to Washington State and ran a trucking business for many years. He loved music and was a natural musician. He also loved fishing, camping, traveling and was an excellent mechanic. In 1957, he married Jeanette Louise Elliott. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Vergie Luther, three brothers, Claude Luther, Norman Luther and Orville Luther, one sister, Nancy Gates, his first wife, Elizabeth, second wife, Jeanette Luther, three children, Loren Luther, Maris Jane Luther and Timothy Luther. He is survived by a sister, Vera Barber of Nevada, Missouri, his children, Alan Luther (Barbara) of Yakima, WA, Jerry Luther (Gloria) of Bickleton, WA, Reverend David Daniel Luther (Fatima) of Ketchikan, Alaska, Jeanetta Knopp of Yakima, WA, Susan Lockbeam (Arnold) of Selah, WA, Kevin Luther of Sunnyside, WA, Cindy Luther of Sunnyside, WA, Kathy Luther of Sunnyside, WA, Mark Luther (Annie) of Sunnyside, WA, Martin Luther (Linda) of Prosser, WA, Dean Luther (Cindy) of Sunnyside, WA, Dale Luther of Sunnyside, WA and Leon Luther (Charlotte) of Whitstran, WA, daughter-in-law, Judy Luther of Yuma, AZ, 50 grandchildren, 88 great grandchildren and 21 great great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 13, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA with burial to follow at the Sunnyside Cemetery, Sunnyside, WA.
