Born Aug. 31, 1931 Leo was the youngest of 13 children born to George and Susie (Jacoby) Feuerstein at the homestead in Belding. Read More	Ionia Sentinel Standard - March 3, 2011 Leo Laurence Feuerstein, 79, of Belding went to be with the Lord on March 2, 2011 under the care of Faith Hospice. Born Aug. 31, 1931 Leo was the youngest of 13 children born to George and Susie (Jacoby) Feuerstein at the homestead in Belding. He graduated from Belding High School in 1949 and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict (1951-1953). He was honorably discharged October 1958. After the service, Lee returned to General Motors as a journeyman tool and die maker and die estimator until 1958 when he decided to pursue dairy and crop farming full-time. In 1977, he was hired as the 8th Circuit Court Bailiff and held that position for 32 years. Leo was a family man who enjoyed the simple things in life. Most of all, he treasured spending time with his family. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Joan, his sweetheart who he called Joanie, of nearly 58 years; and two sisters Rose Keiffer of Carson City and Leona Gasper of Belding. He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Pamella (Mark) Gassman of St. Johns and Penny (Jerry) Rosema of Lowell. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Kirsten Vroman, Travis Vroman, Shawn Rosema, Brad (Tanya) Rosema, Greg (Angie) Rosema, Kyle Gassman and Alisha Gassman; his great grandchildren: Sierra, Andrew, Kendra and Phillip, as well as many nieces and nephews. Leo was preceded in death by his daughter, Peggy Lee Feuerstein; nine brothers; and one sister. Family and friends may gather at the Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, 203 Pleasant St., Belding from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, March 4. Evening visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Mary’s, 9041 Krupp Road, Belding with Rosary prayed at 8 p.m. Leo was a member of St. Mary’s Miriam Catholic Church where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with Father Phil Shangraw presiding. Rite of committal will follow in St. Mary’s cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.
