Description	:	Leo Stone Estling was born April 3, 1925, near Masonville, Iowa, the son of Gunnar and Thelma Stone Estling. Leo attended school and graduated from Edgewood High School. Leo was united in marriage to Verna Mayme Voshell on May 2, 1947, at Manchester, Iowa. To this union were born six children: Douglas, Darla, Michael, Dixie, Kenneth, and Timothy. Leo attended school and graduated from Edgewood High School. Leo was united in marriage to Verna Mayme Voshell on May 2, 1947, at Manchester, Iowa. To this union were born six children: Douglas, Darla, Michael, Dixie, Kenneth, and Timothy. The family moved to Aurora, Iowa, in 1955. Leo worked for Paul Nieman Construction for 39 years as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1987. Verna entered into her eternal rest on July 21, 1993. Leo was a hard working man who enjoyed driving his Ford cars, taking people to medical appointments, and listening to Polka music on Sunday mornings. Leo entered into his eternal rest on Monday, July 14, 2008, at University Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa, at the age of 83, following a sudden illness. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Timothy; his wife, Verna; and his brother, Bob. Survivors include his three sons and two daughters: Douglas (Kay) Estling of Oelwein; Darla (Tom) Thompson of Aurora; Michael Estling of Hazleton; Dixie (Sonny) Hoffman of Aurora; and Kenneth (Judy) Estling of Independence; fourteen grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren; his sister, Evelyn Wernimont of Long Beach, CA; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at the Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop. Interment will be in the Madison Township Cemetery south of Aurora. Friends may call from 3 PM until 8 PM Tuesday and until service time Wednesday at Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop
