He died at his Lamoni home on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. Leo grew up in Illinois. He married Doris Darlene Powell on November 25, 1942, in Illinois. He entered the United States Navy in April of 1943. Read More	Leo Vey Stevenson, age 96, of Lamoni, Iowa, was born November 9, 1924, at Burnside, Illinois to Charlie Thomas and Glenware Tot (Lambert) Stevenson. He died at his Lamoni home on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. Leo grew up in Illinois. He married Doris Darlene Powell on November 25, 1942, in Illinois. He entered the United States Navy in April of 1943. Upon his honorable discharge in January of 1946, he returned home. Later they were blessed with son, Phillip. In 1950, the family moved to Lamoni, Iowa, and in 1951, they were blessed with daughter, Dorothy “Dotty”. Leo bought the dry cleaners in Lamoni in 1952, and operated it until the early 1970’s when he started a farming operation with his son, Phil. Later he sold the dry cleaners and farmed full time. On January 1, 1979, Doris passed away. In 1980, Leo married Lois Marie Strong. They built a home on West Main Street and were living there when Lois passed away on January 26, 2017. Leo loved to travel, but farming was his joy and his life. He gave it up when he was 91 years old. He also loved cars, especially Fords. He did not like to sit still, always wanted to keep busy. Preceding him in death were his parents; wives, Doris Stevenson and Lois Stevenson; and both brothers, infant Gomer Stevenson and Duane Stevenson. Survivors include his children, Phil Stevenson of Lamoni, Iowa and Dotty Stevenson and Bob Haley, both of Youngstown, Arizona; three grandchildren, Kelly Payne & Shane Martz, Kris & Leanna Stevenson, and Heather & Sam Anderson; great grandchildren, Javin Stevenson and Kelan Stevenson; nieces and nephews; stepchildren and their families; and other relatives and friends.
